Name: Hokkaido Shesshomaru
Gender: Male
Appearance Age: 30
Actual Age: 354
Height: 6 foot, 3 inches

Personality:
Hokkaido is a free-spirited warrior.
He is not afraid to speak his mind on any subject, including religion and politics. It is hard for Hokkaido to keep his mouth shut when there is something that he wants to get off his chest, and in some instances he gets a little overzealous.
Even a small mention of a battle or mission will send him into a excited frenzy. When he has something to protect, however, he gets extremely serious, to the point where he shuts out all other human contact and focuses solely on the battle.
In a social setting, he is very talkative.
He makes friends relatively easy, due in part to his positive attitude towards other people.
The only time he has a negative look on his face is when he is locked in a tight battle against an opponent who has harmed someone he cares about deeply.
Zanpaktou Spirit: Kimtara Tasaro
Personality:
In some ways, Kimtara and Hokkaido are very similar.
Kimtara is a very open person. She always wants to tell Hokkaido her innermost secrets and thoughts, but sometimes she gets too much into it and says things that are inappropriate for the moment.
One of the more negative qualities that she has is that she likes to egg Hokkaido onto a lot of fights that he himself really doesn't want to get involved in, and she can be quite annoying and insistent.
She becomes extremely agitated when Hokkaido is losing a battle, up to the point where she is screaming at the top of her lungs, but she does calm down quickly when the battle turns in his favor.
She is equally loud when he is winning, shouting words of encouragement and praise, she is pretty much annoying all the time, but Hokkaido has learned to like it.
Environment:
Kimtara lives above the clouds in an early roman type structure.
It's slightly in ruins, but Kimtara doesn't mind, she likes to learn the history of the world of the living's civilizations.

Background:
Hokkaido was born into a wealthy family on the northern island of, yup, you guessed it, Hokkaido.
His family owned a large chain of 5-Star restaurants, one of the most popular chain restaurants in all of Japan.
His parents were extremely overbearing, enrolling him to work in the restaurant as early as five years old. They were so obsessed with him carrying on the family legacy to the point where they forbade him from going to school because they thought the only thing he ever needed to learn was how to run a successful restaurant.
By the age of 15, Hokkaido knew everything there was to know about the family business, but he had the feeling that his life was unfulfilled, he wanted to do something that he wanted to do, that made him feel like his life was important.
He decided to run as far as he could, away from his overbearing parents and his unfulfilled life.
That far away place was an island known as Kyushu.
There he decided he wanted to become a great artist, painting anything that made him forget his previous existence.
He painted anything he saw, landscapes and buildings, people and places.
The one thing he would refuse to paint was a restaurant. He didn't even feel comfortable looking at a restaurant, seeing as that it reminded him of his terrible life before painting.
After a while, he sold his paintings to the highest bidder, and they became well known across the whole of Japan.
One negative aspect of this is that they also reached his parents back on the island of Hokkaido. His parents had been extremely disappointed in him for leaving in the first place, but when they saw that he was doing something other than working in a restaurant, they became resentful.
Their obsession over the family legacy blinded them from compassion, to the point where they hired their own hit-man to take care of the "problem".
They thought that he deserved to die because he shamed their family.
Unfortunately, Hokkaido was never taught how to fight or defend himself, so an attack by professional hit-men was an impossible position for him to overcome.
He was easily killed by the hit-man, and his parents showed no sign of guilt or remorse.
They even made a new son, and started the process all over again.
He was a wandering soul in search of the truth, seeing that he never found out that the man who killed him was a hit-man hired by his own parents.
He had finally changed his life around, "Why did I have to die?" he wondered.
But once again, his existence was meaningless, and he found another way to do something great.
He was wandering through the streets of the city, and he came upon what seemed to be a traveling swordsman wearing a black kimono.
The warrior explained to him everything that he needed to know, and Hokkaido was eager to be sent to anywhere where he could start a new existence with a new purpose, that's all he ever wanted.
Shinigami History:
After being sent to the Soul Society by the wandering shinigami, Hokkaido found himself in an area known as Rukongai, a large district of towns outlying the Sereitei, the inner grounds of the Soul Society that house the shinigami squads. He eagerly wanted to figure out how he could become one of these shinigami.
He learned from some of the souls living in the Rukongai that it takes many years of intense physical, mental, and spiritual training in order to become even just a candidate, he figured it was well worth it.
He decided that an isolated area away from all the hustle and bustle of the Rukongai would be the best place to train his body and his spirit energy.
He traveled far, and eventually came upon a range of mountains that stretched for miles, and thought that this would be perfect.
His workout regimen in the mountains consisted of a 30 mile hike, 100 pushups, and 100 situps. He topped that off with 3 hours of meditation to train his spirit energy, he continued this same regimen in the mountains for five years.
By the time he had returned to Rukongai, he possessed a high level of spiriitual pressure, which was noticed by a few passing shinigami.
He was taken by the shinigami into the Sereitei's shinigami academy.
RP Example:
Swift Stroke of the Sword
It was a sunny day on the training grounds of the Soul Society, it always seemed to be. I was supposedly training with one of the top soul reapers in the Soul Society, but that was all they would tell me, I had no information on any technique or ability this soul reaper possessed. I walked through the entrance to the grounds with reservation with nothing but a wooden sword and the clothes on my back.
WIth the sword in my hand, facing my training partner, I rushed as fast as I could, but unbeknown to me, he knew the flashstep technique, and quickly dodged my attack.
He said, "All techniques can be countered in some way, even with a weaker tech if used the right way at the right time."
I studied the patterns of his flash step very hard, and after a while, I was able to figure out where he was going to appear next.
Without even having to think about it, I raised my sword and swung as swiftly as humanly possible. I was able to graze the sleeve of his kimono. It wasn't as good of a hit as I initially wanted, but I realized I was making progress.
"You're improving greatly" he said to me, which gave me the assurance that I was going to fulfill my purpose very soon.
My purpose.......
To make something of my new life.
